Workshop resources & ideas
The workshops in this resource are a sample taken from the Free For All programme and are designed to help young people interact with some of the key issues and events associated with the transatlantic slave trade.
Through drama, movement, music and creative workshops, children can in some way enter into the story of the Abolitionist movement and be challenged to interact with the continuing story of slavery in the world today.
The topics covered in this resource are designed to act as a springboard to dig deeper into the events and themes of the Triangular trade and the fight against it. The workshops can be run in isolation or from beginning to end to make up a short performance.
All the workshops are accompanied by boxed workshop instructions, which act as a guide to put the workshops/scenes together, but teachers or workshop leaders are free to experiment and introduce their own ideas.
