| World To Rights
World To Rights is a project from the Church Mission Society's youth and children's team. Following on from the success of FREE FOR ALL in 2007, World To Rights is touring around cathedrals in the UK, working with thousands of young people to explore the Rights of the Child.
The World to Rights day is made up of educational workshops and a performance. Starting with a basic knowledge of Rights, the children explore Victorian times to better understand the importance of protection, healthcare, safety, a loving family and an education.
 The workshops include: life in the cotton mill, life on the streets of London and a ragged school, and finally life in a Victorian circus. Various scenes portraying children’s lack of rights 150 years ago help the participating pupils to gain a sense of privilege and responsibility to others around the world today who still have no rights.
The tour kicked off in January, 2009, but before then, the team from CMS visited Manila in the Philippines to experience something of the lives of street children there. Understanding the rights of children through eyes that do not even know what it is to have any rights was an important context for the project.
The team made a short film that is being used throughout 2009 to help young people in the UK to connect with street children around the world, and to grasp a sense of the rights and responsibilities we all have.
